Job Description
The role of the Payroll Specialist is to assure the timely and accurate payment of wages to all University employees, and to maintain accurate and timely reporting to all local, state and federal agencies.

  • Processes Salary and Hourly Payroll
  • Reconciles payroll runs to 941 report
  • Processes and submits monthly and quarterly withholding and unemployment reports to the various local, state and federal agencies
  • Reconciles and processes year end W-2’s
  • Tests and approves monthly Colleague software patches before implementation to the system
  • Processes, tracks and remits garnishments, levies, bankruptcies and child support orders for salaried employees
  • Compiles and submits employee wage information for Michigan and other states Worker’s Compensation audits
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Stay current with federal and state regulations as they pertain to the field of payroll
  • Provide the highest level of service to employees through timely and accurate payment of wages
  • Maintain report and remittance compliance for all federal , state and local agencies
  • Have a bachelor degree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • Have extensive knowledge of federal and state regulations as they pertain to the payroll field
  • Have experience in payroll software processes, preferably Ellucian/Colleague
